HOW TO CLEAN RUNNING SNEAKERS

HOW TO CLEAN RUNNING SNEAKERS

There is nothing like a new pair of running shoes. But the fresh "out-of-the-box" smell, bright-colored uppers, and smooth soles will not last long. Whether you run on trails, roads, or the treadmill, you'll find that dirt, sweat and bacteria will eventually build up on your favorite sneakers.

Running sneakers are meant to be worn and enjoyed, that's why it is almost imposible to keep them looking like new. The good news is that frequent post-run cleanings can help maintain the look & performance of your shoes and prevent funky odors & athlete's foot.

Many runners will throw their sneakers in the washing/dryer machine. This is not ideal as it can shrink the shoes, damage their uppers, and compromise sole performance.

Now... What if I tell you there is a way to clean your shoes in minutes and have them ready to wear in a couple of hours?

It's called the Shoozas Method and it was designed to make shoe cleaning quick, easy and stress-free. Best part? Your shoes will be dry and ready to use on the very same day.

As you can see in the pictures below, my sneakers do not look too dirty, that's because I clean them at least once every two weeks. Because of that, I'll do a surface cleaning without removing the laces or insoles.

PUMP

First, I place my sneakers on the Shoozas Cleaning Mat. The mat protects counters and allows for a quick clean-up so I can clean my shoes anywhere without making a mess. Then I take the cleaner bottle, shake it well and pump foam directly on the shoes.

SCRUB

Next, I scrub the shoes in circular motion with the all-purpose brush. I start with the uppers and move towards the soles (dirt accumulates on soles and we don't want to bring it up to the uppers).

DRY

To finish the cleaning, I remove the extra foam with the microfiber towel and leave my shoes to air dry for a few hours.

For a more in depth clean, remove the laces and insoles and repeat the same 3 steps.

How easy was that? That's how I maintain my running sneakers fresh, and keep dirt and germs away from my home. All the tools I used for the Shoozas Method are included in Shoozas Signature Kit.

You said throwing the sneakers in the washer is not a good idea as this could shrink the shoes or compromise the sole performance. I used to wash my sneakers this way and the sole did get deformed at some point. I’ll figure out a better way to clean them because I’m getting a pair of expensive calf-skin sneakers soon. https://zepyure.com/collections/women

Thanks for this! I’ve been running in Mexico during rainy season and been struggling with dry dirt on my soles.
